Welcome to 1st DevLog of Kurukshetra
Kurukshetra is a region named after King Kuru, the ancestor of Kauravas and Pandavas in the Kuru kingdom, as depicted in epic Mahabharata. The Kurukshetra War of the Mahabharata is believed to have taken place here. The narrative describes individual battles and deaths of various heroes of both sides, military formations, war diplomacy, meetings and discussions among the characters, and the weapons used. The Shreemad Bhagwad Geeta, The Song of God, was recited at the start of the Dharma Yuddha (righteous war) between Pandavas and Kauravas at Kurukshetra.
But what is this game about?
Kurukshetra is a massive multiplayer online empire building strategic role-playing game inspired by Indian mythology, culture and documented history.
Think of games like Age of Empires or Rise of Nations, building cities after cities expanding your empire and finally conquering your enemy or rather crushing them but on a much bigger scale, 10 cities max? What? Build 100 build 1000 if you can want to! But since the in-game population grows similar to real life, i.e., you could have like thousands of people living in a single city, so it becomes difficult to animate things like military fights or actual people as seen in AoE or RoN, that too in a browser.
With this game we want to take a different approach from the genre of empire building games. The game focuses on overall development of an empire that is things like culture, trade, research, and economics and not just making the strongest military and crushing other players. In fact, the game mechanism will be built in such a way that would discourage and even penalize players for focusing only on a single aspect of empire building. While also giving the player the freedom of choosing their own play style.
We’ll have details devlogs covering each and every aspect of the game and for the many features of the game, but writing is not our best thing so that’ll take time.
