Welcome to 2nd Devlog of Kurukshetra
We realized we haven't talked about the game enough yet. So lets talk about the gameplay of Kurukshetra. So... lets talk about it...
The game begins with you as a person with big ambitions, gathering a few mortals and starting your own tribe. With only one aim, to one day, make the strongest, the biggest, the richest, the most powerful and peaceful empire the world will ever see.
But with only a few tribesmen standing with you, going on war with other kingdoms isn’t the right idea, you’ll have to wait, grow your empire, become stronger and slowly dominate the world. Right now, your goal is ensuring survival of the tribe. You must start collecting resources and constructing necessary buildings to sustain your tribe. You must also have a few men ready to defend your city from other smaller tribes.
Now that you have started building your empire, as the tribe chief it is important for you to oversee every aspect of the tribe’s growth. Choosing the right Policies is important. The more well balanced and growth driven your policies are, the more your subjects will be happy. This will in turn make people more productive and loyal towards you. And it will also attract people from surrounding to join your tribe. But be aware everything is not all as easy, as making wrong decision and enforcing harsh diktat on your tribesmen will make them upset and it may even force them to leave your tribe and settle elsewhere.
Well, as more and more people join your tribe your single city may not be enough to accommodate these many people, or even give them a means of living, it’s time to grow! It’s time to build your next city! With a new city you are not just a tribe anymore you are kingdom! Now you can proudly call yourself a king, The King!
But remember each of your city must be self-sufficient, yes you can transport resources from one city to another or even Trade with other kingdoms, but that takes time, making your cities as self-sufficient as possible is the best thing to do. As your kingdom grows bigger and bigger so does your enemies, and now, it’s time to not only defend your cities but also attack others because sometime offence is the best defence.
You can’t just send your people to attack other cities directly, you have to train them, you have to turn them into ironclad soldiers! But even this is not an ordinary task. Some are too young to fight, some are too old, some are needed for functioning of your city while some are needed to carry out basic tasks like collecting resources and constructing and repairing buildings, and finally some are needed to defend your cities in case of an attack. With the remaining few, you train them to become the fiercest army!
It’s said enemy’s enemy is your friend. While having Friends and Alliance to defeat a common enemy is good, but don’t ever forget your goal, as everyone else is dreaming the same, to become the biggest empire the world will ever see. And remember even the biggest of the alliances break and even the smallest alliances can overthrow regimes.
Other kingdoms aren’t the only enemies you’ll face, there are also bandits and other unlaws that may attack your cities, its better to clear them out before they do so. And external threats are not the only threat your empire has. There may be factions within your empire that could incite protests. So, make sure that while you expand the kingdom, have countless cities and all the luxuries and fortunes, your people are happy too!
Your subjects have cultural and religious needs, you must fulfil those too. Making Temples and having a place to worship Gods satisfies your people’s needs. Not only that, a deity, impressed with your worship may even bless you with fortunes or give you an advantage over your enemy. Your subjects may also need entertainment so constructing a Theatre sounds good! Some of your people may have interest in science and research. Build an Academy and Research Centre for them. Someone good at trading might want a large Trade Centre.
As you build these temples or theatres or academies, these cities will attract more and more people with their related interests. You can turn these cities into cities dedicated to that particular aspect of society and empire building. A wise ruler goes beyond to help his subjects. At times you will face a situation where some needy comes to your court to ask for help. Your kingdom can also face a disaster due to natural calamity.
With your empire spanning miles covering the whole world, your uncountable riches and your millions strong military force, it may become difficult and cumbersome to manage this empire alone, so you have ministers at your service. Appoint different ministers to help with your day-to-day task so you can be focused at making your empire even bigger!
The Vedas forms the core of the society, it’s the way your people live. The Vedas teach you the way of science and the way of faith. The history says that the being with the knowledge of Vedanta knows the knowledge of the world. It also teaches us the difference between right vs wrong, good vs evil, the Gods vs the Devils. You may have the blessings from the Gods but you’ll have to face the devil yourself. Destroying the Danavs and the Rakshas will not only bring peace and free your people from atrocities but also give you fortunes. However, you are not all alone to fight them because you have Heroes for your help. Different Heroes have different abilities. Some may improve your archers while others may help you at managing your city better. Some may be good commanders while others may be a master architect!
Until next time 👋🏻
